Preliminary Task Evaluation

Evaluation of Your Preliminary Production Task
I have learnt numerous thing about filming and editing, firstly I learnt how to use a camera efficient and properly for example how to insert a tape and to attach the battery and detach the battery. Also I learnt how to adjust the white balance, iris (exposure) and manually adjust the focus. In addition to this I have learnt how to set up a tripod and how to attach and detach the camera to it As well as this I had learnt how to use the 180 degrees rule and how to and not to break there rule. Lastly I had learnt how upload videos on to the computer also how to use pinnacle studios to edit and adjust the video we had recorded.
There were many things that had gone well during the preliminary task. One of the things that had got well was the fact that we managed to film the full task without and interruptions or hurdles to overcome like no available rooms. Also the editing went well and the video had merged well together. This was because we managed to shoot majority of the shots in A chronological order and when it was edited it fitted well together. Everything went well because we followed the sheet directions and managed to shoot most shot like the close up, managed to followed the 180 degree rules during the conversation between me and ben also we managed to shoot the over the shoulder shot during the conversation, this was to show the viewer the relationship ship between me and ben and how were just having a casual conversation.
However something went wrong during the recording. One of the things was that the scene when I take out my phone and then dial the number there is a jump between this. However I adapted and added a quick clip of ben to make it look more realistic. As well as this the ending of the final conversation was cut slightly short so there is not a satisfying ending to avoid this we could of shot some extra footage to make sure there was enough. Lastly we did not shoot the over the shoulder shot of ben talking to me, next time we will have to make sure all shots are shot.
There were not too many problems amongst our group, however the slight problem of a couple of our members being slightly more knowledgeable than the rest felt as if we were slowing them down. This could be resolved if the two in the group who had lesser knowledge came slightly more prepared.
I have learnt many things throughout this process, for example how to follow the 180 degrees rule and also different types of shots. I believe that this will help me with coursework I can now see what other directors/designers are trying to portray during their films.
In conclusion, the things that pleased me most about it was the production itself as I believe it was better to understand it by actually doing it, and seeing the final production coming together made it worth doing.
